Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia formally concluded the Delhi Walk Festival by visiting Mirza Ghalibs Shahjahanabad in Old Delhi.Titled "Mirza Ghalib's Shahjahanabad: Purani Dilli as the poet's muse", the programme was conducted by the Delhi government in collaboration with 'Delhi By Foot' and 'Delhi I love You' walking tour groups. The walk began at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday morning and was the last leg of the Delhi Walk Festival, which was held since November 19 for heritage enthusiasts and the general public. Sisodia said he "will explore ways in which this effort can be continued" and also pledged to support the planning and execution of similar events in future. Some of Ghalib's finest poetry and letters were recited for the participants, as they explored Ghalib's Purani Dilli, the Haveli (house) where he lived and heard the quirky anecdotes regarding the celebrated poet in the alleys of Shahjahanabad. Sisodia also sampled some snacks and tea with the locals here, as he walked through the historic bylanes of the area. The earlier walks spanned many spots across the capital, including Yamuna Walk and Nature Photography in the Aravalis. The idea of the project was to re-introduce Delhi and its old world charm, heritage and culture to the city denizens like never before.
