Agriculture department Ramban today organized one day workshop on the occasion of World Soil Health Day at Maitra.MLA, Ramban, Neelam Langeh was the Chief Guest while ACR Ramban Vevaik Puri was also present on the occasion.On the occasion, the MLA inaugurated the new building of the well equipped Soil Testing Laboratory in presence of large number of progressive farmers. He also distributed the Soil Health Cards containing the soil test results of their fields among 100 farmers. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA assured the farmers for the establishment of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Ramban to ensure better communication between farmers and the agriculture scientists. Assuring the establishment of a Vegetable Satellite Market at Ramban, Neelam Langeh said that besides various other issues such as early completion of the Vegetable Satellite Market at Batote and at Assar shall be taken up with the concerned to expedite the projects.
Dr. Sanjay Khajuria from SKUAST (Jammu), Agriculture experts KK Koul, PK Nagar, District Soil Conservation Officer, AH Salaria delivered lectures and informed the farmers about the importance of soil testing for the better production with minimum use of the fertilizers. They also underlined the need of use of organic manures.Chief Agriculture Officer, HK Razdan informed that about 85 percent soil samples have been collected from the fields in the district and 2022 soil samples have been tested in the Soil Testing laboratory, Ramban out of which information pertaining to more than 1200 samples have been uploaded on the relevant portal and 12700 farmers have been provided their cards after uploading their data.
