An awareness programme was organized by the Department of Agriculture at DC office complex Udhampur to mark the World Soil Health Day.District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Neeraj Kumar lauded the efforts of the Agriculture department for organizing such programmes to make farmers aware of the schemes being implemented by the department. He exhorted the farmers to avail benefits of these schemes.He also distributed Soil Health Cards among the farmers present in the programme.While speaking on the occasion Rajesh Gupta, Research Assistant STL Udhampur made farmers aware about the soil sampling/testing techniques. Kewal Sharma, Agriculture Engineer explained to the farmers about the nutrient deficiency symptoms, their causes and remedies.Farmers appreciated the department for organizing the programme and requested to organize more such interactive sessions so that farmers are kept abreast with latest agricultural practices and   schemes of the department.Rakesh Jamwal, Jt Director (CPO), A K Koul CAO, Ravinder Kaul Chief Hort.  Officer Udhampur, Ravinder Thaploo SMS(DL), K K Mattoo SDAO Udhampur, Vijay Bharat SDAO Ramnagar, and officers of the Agriculture Department of the district  were also present on the occasion.
