Punjab Government is all set to launch a major initiative in the public health sector in the form of Free Annual Preventive Health Check-Up Programme (FAPHC) for all the 30 plus citizens of Punjab state fulfilling the promise made by Chief Minister Punjab during Health Summit in November to provide Universal Health Coverage. Each & every resident of state above the age of 30 years will be screened for diseases like Anemia,Hypertension, Diabetes, Kidney and Liver diseases etc.An expert group led by Dr K K Talwar Advisor Health and Dr Rajesh Kumar HOD School of Public Health PGIMER planned this initiative.This was revealed here today by Ms. Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Punjab while adding that such diseases can well be prevented/ controlled if detected early. She said that as per public health experts, health check-up on a regular basis, especially after the age of 30, is the key to prevention of such diseases and play a major role in determining the quality of life.
Therefore, after recently launching the initiative to provide free medicines & diagnostic facilities across the state, on the directions of Chief Minister, Punjab, this annual health check-up programme has been designed to cover all 30 plus population. Ms. Vini Mahajan said that under this innovative FAPHC programme, basic investigations like Blood Pressure, Hemoglobin, Blood Sugar, Kidney & Liver function tests will be conducted free of cost in addition to consultation by Doctors. She added that patients suffering from Kidney diseases & Liver diseases will be referred to nearest tertiary care facilities.These people will be examined at all Community Health Centers of the state on every Saturday by doctors and will be motivated to take healthy food and exercise regularly.Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal, will be launching this free Annual Preventive Health Check upinitiative from Community Health Centre, Chamkaur Sahib, District Ropar on 6th December 2016.
