With involving young students in science & technology, we will be able to encourage budding scientists to come up with simple, practical and innovative solutions to the local societal problems.Speaker, J&K, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta said this at the conclusion of the State Level event for 24th National Children Science Congress (NCSC) 2016 at Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School, Sainik Colony.The programme was organized by National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society (NCURDS), Jammu.While speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said that participation in science programmes should be encouraged in young students aged 10 - 17 from both formal and informal school systems besides providing them open opportunities to exhibit their creativity and innovativeness.The Speaker said that regular organization of wide outreach science popularization programmes in the state would help inculcate scientific temperament among students and teachers, where budding scientists study, analyze and try to find the scientific solution to the local problems. He further said that these events will not only help identify but enhance the hidden science acumen among many youths in the state.

About 70 projects drawn from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir were presented by over 300 child scientists under the focal theme ‘Science Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development with special emphasis on accessibility for the persons with disabilities’.16 best projects identified from this competition will represent J&K state at the 24th National Children Science Congress 2016, scheduled to be held at Baramati, Maharashtra.Also present on the occasion, Commissioner JMC, Manmohan Singh, officials from concerned agencies, participants, accompanying staff and students of the Tiny Tots School.The Speaker also attended the concluding event for the Open State Speed Ball Championship 2016 organized by J&K Sports Speed Ball Association at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground and distributed medals, certificates among the winners.Kavinder Gupta also felicitated the international and national level Speed Ball players from Jammu and Kashmir who have consistently brought laurels to the state and the country.Earlier, the Speaker inaugurated the completed project for upgradation and construction of drains at Ward no 43, Nanak Nagar Jammu.The project has been executed at a cost of Rs 3.5 lakh by the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
