District Development Commissioner (DDC) Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, today convened District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting to review the progress under District Credit Plan (DCP) 2016-17 as on September 30, this year.Lead District Officer (LDO) RBI, DDM NABARD, Cluster Heads of Banks and Financial institutions operating in district Srinagar and Government Departments attended the meeting.The meeting was briefed about achievements made during the first half of the current financial year under Annual Credit Plan (ACP) 2016-17 by banks and financial institutions operating in the district. The DDC was requested to direct the banks to enhance credit dispensation in the district.Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Srinagar said the banks need to do more for progress of the district and emphasized that banks must be positive and instrumental in credit dispensation and increase the CDR to the benchmark level fixed by the RBI.He said that the Financial Literacy Centres (FLCs) have to play an important role in the financial inclusion and demonetization process. He stressed for concerted efforts of all the banks and Government Departments in organizing financial literacy and awareness camps for opening of bank accounts by the unbanked population, including unorganized sector, particularly workers engaged in construction work, small scale industry, domestic help, daily wagers, tea garden workers, etc in a mission mode.
