Chandigarh Group of Colleges Jhanjeri students led a campaign on National Pollution Control Day carrying banners & placards reading Kill Pollution Be a part of solution & not the pollution, Pollution- if we don’t kill it, it will kill us, Louder one honks faster his health conks, Keep calm and stop noise pollution, Don’t let our future go up in smoke etc . The staff and students of CGC holding these banners lined up on the Landran-Sirhind road, offered a cup of tea & snack to the drivers of cars, buses, trucks etc. & counseled them about the harmful effects of emission of smoke from vehicles on the respiratory system, eyes & skin allergies especially in children. They were advised to get their vehicles regularly checked for smoke emission. About noise pollution, the volunteers advised the drivers to use horn only when absolutely necessary as a loud noise disturbs mental peace in general and badly affects the school students & the patients in the hospitals.Speaking on the occasion, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that college has undertaken other measures also like Tree Plantation, Proper Disposal of Kitchen Waste and suitable Treatment of water & sewerage etc to ensure a pollution free environment for the students and emphasized that pollution works as havoc and we all should work together to control it effectively.
