The Committee on Public Undertakings (COPU) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today met under the Chairmanship of MLA, Sat Paul Sharma to discuss the CAGs Audit report pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC).Threadbare discussions were held on Audit Para 4.3.2 of CAGs Audit report of the year 205-16 regarding allotment of works and payment of unsecured interest-free mobilization advance to the contractor.Legislators, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Shah Mohammad Tantray, Rajeev Sharma and Naresh Kumar Gupta participated in the discussion and gave their suggestions regarding the matter.The Committee asked the Corporation to complete all its ongoing projects within stipulated time so that the works being executed by the Corporation, could be completed without any cost escalation.

On the occasion Commissioner Secretary, R&B, Rohit Kansal briefed the Committee about the steps being taken by the Corporation in view of the observations made in the CAG’s audit report about unnecessary delay in construction of Ganpat bridge at Doda.He informed the committee that Government has already constituted an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to conduct inquiry into the matter.The Committee asked the Chief Secretary to submit its inquiry report before the Public Undertaking Committee at the earliest so that the committee will make its final recommendations.Accountant General, Audit H Abbas also briefed the committee about the observations made by CAG in its report. Among others, Chief Engineer, R&B Jammu, senior concerned officers of R&B and JKPCC, besides Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
