Dy CM reviews functioning of Local Bodies at Ramban

Announces Rs 20 lakh each for Batote, Ramban, Banihal Municipal Committees

Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh convened a meeting to review the functioning of Municipal Committees of Batote, Ramban and Banihal areas at Batote today.Legislators, Neelam Kumar Langeh and Vikar Rasool, Commissioner/Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Hirdesh Kumar, DC Ramban, Mohammad Aijaz, Director ULB, Jammu, Soujanya Sharma besides other officers were present on the occasion.The Deputy Chief Minister announced Rs 20 lakh each for the three municipalities and directed the officers to make judicious use of  funds for the implementation of various schemes launched by the Government so that the benefits of such schemes percolates down to the needy people. He also called upon the officers of these Committees to take concrete steps to make the functioning of these bodies more vibrant and result-oriented so that they become self-sustained. He asked them to explore possibilities to develop some income generating assets for the smooth functioning of various Municipal Committees.

The issues pertaining to the establishment of Solid Waste Management plants, removal of encroachments from roads for widening, de-congesting the town, construction of community sanitary complex and IHHL units, identification of land for establishing auto stand and creation of sufficient number of parking areas, status of building permission cases, identification of garbage collection points, details of various assets created, creation of cattle ponds for stray animals and progress of Swachh Bharat Mission- Urban were discussed. The Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned to give focused attention on these areas.Dr Singh directed DDC Ramban to identify land at Chanderkote for dumping the solid waste and construction of Community Hall at Batote on priority basis. He issued instructions for a comprehensive proposal for the overall development of Batote town in view of its importance on various aspects.Detailed deliberations were also held on certain issues including establishment of shopping and toilet complexes at Banihal, speeding up the construction work of community hall at Banihal, deployment of auto service in Banihal MC, identification of land for the construction of cattle shelter etc.
