Locals of Khonmou Industrial area staged a protest here on Monday accusing police of inaction against the ‘accused responsible for the killing of a 16 years old youth Aqib Ahmed Lone son of Muhammad Ramzan Lone, a resident of Lone Mohalla Khonmou Srinagar whose body was recovered near a factory on 24 July this year.“Police have arrested three persons in this regard. But it seems that they (police) are not interested in exposing the killers,” Raja Begum the mother of the deceased youth told news agency CNS.The protesting family of the deceased youth who assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar said that Aqib had gone missing after he offered funeral prayers of a local youth Sameer Ahmed Wani who had succumbed to his injuries on July 22 in Srinagar hospital. “He was part of funeral procession and after that we failed to trace him,” said his father adding that it was his friend who was accompanying him when he went missing.The family, while demanding a thorough probe into the mysterious disappearance and killing of Aqib alleged that police are not serious in exposing the killers. Station House Officer Pantha Chowk Police Station, Muhammad Ayoub, said they can’t frame anyone without any proof. “We are questioning suspects on daily basis. It is unfair to say that we are not doing anything. The fact is that we can’t frame an innocent without any proof,” he said adding that so many accused identified by the victim family are still in police station and are being questioned. (CNS)
