Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today stressed the need for inculcating professionalism among the employees to enhance their performance.The Minister said this during a meeting convened to review distribution of food items in various districts of Jammu province.Speaking during the meeting, the Minister said that food grains distribution is controlled by Directorate office. It is important that the employees, especially the officers, working there, are well versed with their job responsibility.Mr. Zulfkar Ali reiterated on the need for upholding professional attitude, and said everyone should understand their job responsibility.The Minister said FCS&CA is connected with people directly. Therefore, the department, and its officers cannot confine themselves to papers only, but the aim should be to convert words on paper to action on ground, the Minister added.Mr. Zulfkar Ali said that present era is the age of information, where the officer assigned with certain job, should have all requisite information about the subject.
He said, the concerned officer should have clear and up to date information about all kind of transactions going in the department.Taking pride in having a good team to work with, the Minister said although department is fortunate enough to have good professional people around. However, work should not be limited to papers only, but should be reflected on ground also, he said.Stressing on carrying out regular monitoring to check distribution process, the Minister said that it is imperative that the officers in the department carry out regular audits to check if the things, especially distribution of food grains, is done as per requirement.He said that it is the responsibility of the officers to ensure that consumers are getting food grains on time.He said that the present dispensation believes in delivering the professional duties to best of our capabilities, and those caught napping in delivering their duties would not be spared. He assured a strict action would be initiated against errant employees, the Minister added.Secretary FCS&CA, Shafiq Raina, Director FCS&CA G S Chib, Joint Director, Jammu, FCS&CA, Assistant Directors, FCS&CA from various Jammu districts, Assistant Director Trade and Store, and Assistant Director Mills, including other concerned officers attended the meeting.
