The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah on Friday said he has decided to donate his eyes after his death, saying he is taking such step for those whose eyesight was snatched by the PDP’s ‘vision’.In a statement issued to press, Shah, who is languishing in Raj Bagh police station since last four months, said, “It is my deep desire that my eyes be donated to any of those who lost their eyes during the ongoing ‘Intifada’. Let my eyes help anyone see the world again. As one eye donation can make two blind people see, let’s make the eye donation a tradition.”He added, “Death in inevitable. Why not leave the world while donating our eyes so that those who lost their eyesight during the ongoing Intifada may regain the vision. As such, even after we’re gone, our eyes will keeping seeing.”The DFP chairman lamented that thousands of people got maimed due to pellets, hundreds lost their eyesight, and dozens completely blinded during the ongoing anti-India uprising. “We have to explore options for these victims so that they resume their normal life,” he said.Shah appealed to the doctors, youths, and medical experts to start a campaign to start an eye bank in the State. “We can take such step and donate our eyes for our children the same way some generous people donate their organs like kidney to the needy,” he said.

Paying tributes to those killed during the last four months, Shah said, “Even if we can’t bring them back to life but the least we can do is to donate our eyes (after our death) to those who sacrificed their eyes for us,” he said. The pro-freedom leader appealed the people not to let pessimism and despondency sway them in any way and “continue the freedom movement”.“This (Kashmir) is the only nation in the world where in the name of ‘vision’ are people blinded, massacred, tortured, and their properties destroyed; the place where minors are booked under black laws. Those at helm of affairs must bear in mind that such coercive measures won’t break our resolve but in fact strengthen our spirit to fight for our rights. I salute all our mothers, sisters, and daughters who exhibited utmost courage during the last four months of anti-India movement and made it clear that we want nothing less than freedom from Indian occupation,” he said.Shah also hailed the pro-freedom spirit and steadfastness of the people of Chenab Valley, Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Banihal, Jammu, Kargil and other regions of the State saying “we are a single body”.Shah asked the State “collaborators” of New Delhi to realise that their position is no more than “puppets” and “servants” who “don’t even have a say in any of the State affairs which are directly run by New Delhi and Nagpur”. “These puppets cannot walk even a step without the assistance of police and army not to speak of competing with a single activist of the resistance camp,” he said.
