Directorate of Horticulture organized a two day workshop for Horticulture Development Officers on effective implementation of Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, and Prime Minister Development package.In the workshop threadbare discussions were held on different components like Upgradation of Nurseries, Creation of water resources, protected cultivation, Horticulture Mechanization, Establishment of new orchards, High-density plantation and implementation of micro irrigation system for the fruit growers of Jammu division during 2016-17. Director Horticulture Jammu Bhawani Rakwal while interacting with the officer’s stressed on organizing more and more awareness camps and asked them to reach out to the farmers of far flung areas and acquaint them with the latest know how in the field . He said that emphasis should be laid on establishment of orchards on modern lines with the introduction of latest technological intervention, advance machinery, High-density plantation in Horticulture sector and adopting cluster approach.Tarvinder Singh Joint Director Horticulture Jammu laid emphasis on IPM, INM strategies and introduction of pollination support system in the orchards and eco-friendly measures as per guidelines to increase the productivity of fruit crops.
