Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday was joined by leaders of the Shiv Sena, National Conference and Aam Aadmi Party in a march to Rashtrapati Bhavan to protest against the problems caused to people over the government's demonetisation move.National Conference leader Omar Abdullah was among leaders who took part in the march that started from the Parliament House premises. The leaders are to present a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee over their demands concerning the decision to demonetise 500 and 1,000 rupee notes. About 40 MPs took part in the march.

Shiv Sena MP Anandrao Adsul said they were not against the decision to demonetise currency but at the way it had been implemented. "We are not against the decision but the way it has been implemented. On that we are supporting Trinamool Congress. The decision should have been implemented with proper preparations," Adsul told IANS. Aam Aadmi Party MLA Bhagwant Mann, former union minister Sultan Ahmed and Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant were among those who joined the march. The government had on Nov 8 announced its decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, leading to huge queues outside banks and ATMs to exchange the banned notes, deposit them, or withdraw currency that is legal tender.
