Minister for Cooperative and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjey, has said that the government is contemplating to equip all schools being run by Co-operative Societies with advanced infrastructural and related facilities to enhance education opportunities for poor students.The Minister was speaking at a function organized by the Cooperative Department in collaboration with IFFCO to mark 63rd Cooperative Week celebration at Cooperative School of Education and Research Institute Ltd., Jammu here on Tuesday.Emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about the functioning of the Co-operative schools, the Minister said that these schools offers a very genuine fee structure with quality education apart from extra-curricular facilities. He exhorted upon the concerned functionaries to make the people aware about the benefits of these schools so that maximum people can avail educational facilities here.On the occasion, the host school organized a seminar on “Skill and Entrepreneurship Development through Cooperatives” in which various speakers highlighted their views on the topic.The Minister asked the concerned functionaries to ensure that maximum students especially poor are enrolled in these Cooperative Schools and launch a vigorous awareness campaign in this regard especially in remote areas.Dorjey said that the Institute is playing vital role in spreading the cooperative movement in the State.“Co-operative enterprises provide the organisational means whereby a significant proportion of humanity is able to take into its own hands the task of creating productive employment, overcoming poverty and achieving social integration” Dorjey added.The Minister asked the institution for imbibing moral values among the students besides developing curriculum and co curricular activities in the school.The Minister said that the schools run through co-operative societies would be encouraged by providing requisite logical and financial support by the Department. He said government intends to make such schools as modern one to impart scientific and modern education especially to poor students of the State. The Minister was accompanied by Registrar J&K Cooperative Societies Bashir Ahmad, Additional Registrar J&K cooperative Society Anjana Tikkoo, President Cooperative Public Schools Advocate B S Manhas and other concerned senior officials.
