“Children are building blocks of nation and it is our responsibility to impart quality education to them so that they can become cog in the wheel of country’s development.” Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary said this after inaugurating a festival being organised by Stephens International Public School to mark the celebration of Children’s Day, here today.While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that teachers and parents have great responsibility of inculcating moral values and ethics in the children, adding that, the state government has also started various programmes for providing them new avenues of learning.The Minister also interacted with the children and asked them to actively participate in awareness programmes of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (SBA) being organized by the government for educating the people about the benefits of keeping the surroundings clean. He also encouraged them to plant trees and save as much water as they can.
Meanwhile, the Minister also kick-started black-topping work of Chakrohi to Moola Chak road. The 3.5 km long road being constructed by PWD(R&B) department with an estimated cost of Rs. 3 crore would benefit thousands of villagers living in Chakrohi, Moola chak, Hansa chak, Berla and Nawabad.The Minister instructed the executing agency to complete the work within stipulated time frame, besides ensuring that no heaps of garbage are left lying on the roads after completion of work.Later, the Minister inaugurated Wrestling and Gatka competition being organized to mark the celebration of Shaheedi Divas of Baba Deep Singh in village Kotli Arjun Singh.A large number of people hailing from various sections of the society participated in the event.
