Abdul Haq reviews progress of developmental projects in Baramulla

Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice, Abdul Haq, today chaired a meeting of District Development Board Baramulla to review the progress of various developmental projects and programmes in the district.

Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Legislators, Javed Hussan Beigh and Mohammad Abbas Wani, District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Naqash and Heads of concerned departments were also present in the meeting.The meeting took a comprehensive review of the progress achieved in various projects and decisions of the last board meeting and took stock of sectoral, physical and financial achievements registered in the District Plan 2016-17 and stressed on timely completion of ongoing works in the district.

The meeting was informed that against an approved outlay of Rs 23136.80 lakh, about Rs 7575.06 lakh were made available out of which Rs 4046.98lacs were expended till date during the current fiscal.It was given out that in Rural Development Department under NRLM Rs 103.74 lakh were expended against the availability of Rs 113.49 lakh. Under MGNREGA against the availability of Rs 1864.61 lakh, about Rs 1831.17 lakh were spent. Similarly under IAY Rs 132.60 lakh have been spent against the availability of Rs 249.71 lakh.Under R&B Sector the meeting was informed that 36 bridges have been taken up for repairs and construction. Out of 36 bridges, 9 bridges are targeted for completion during 2016-17. It was stated that during 2016-17 under district sector against the target of macadamization of 26.70 km road length, about 25.75 km were macadamized and similarly 26.50 km road length was black topped against the target of 34.85km. Under central road funds six schemes are going on in the district against an estimated cost of Rs 9496.98 lakh.

The officials of JKPCC informed the meeting that 12 major projects have been taken up by the agency including sub-district hospital Sopore, Construction of boundary wall around Women’s Degree College, Refurbishing Science Lab, Basket ball court in Degree College, constructions at PHC Tujjar Sharief, ITI Pattan, Media Block at Degree College Baramulla. They informed the meeting that work on these projects is under various stages of completion.Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Haq, asked the district administration that no stone should be left unturned in realizing the goals and targets envisaged in annual plan. He called upon the concerned officers to put in their best to achieve the targets well in time and implement all the decisions of the Board in letter and spirit for the overall benefit of the public.While appreciating the role of district officers, Syed Basharat Bukhari said that the officers have done a commendable in dealing with essential services which have given the public a huge relief during these months.The Legislators also raised their issues pertaining to their respective constituencies.
