Wherein Srinagar city is facing power cuts every now and then, the situation in rural areas, according to reports is far worse and most of the villages and townships don’t get electricity for days together.According to reports received by KNS from several areas of north, south and central Kashmir, most of the towns and villages face frequent and extended power cuts. Moreover many areas remain without electricity for days together. The residents of several areas of Baramullah, include Rafiabad, Ladoora, Delina, Sangrama, Ashipora, Kralgund and several other areas. Including Watergam, lodara, old Baramullah and other adjoining villages are up in arms against PDD. They accused PDD of resorting to unscheduled power cuts from last more than two weeks more over the vloltage is too little for the things to be visible.Reports reaching from sopore and Kupwara also said that for the past few weeks, power woes have worsened leaving consumers high and dry. The consumers of metered areas in sopoe and Kupwara towns said that the power is playing hide and seek with them. They said that even the metered areas are not spared of frequent power outages. Reports said that villages including selo, unosu, kulangam, , Sogam, Darpora, are the worst hit.

Reports of power shortage were also received from several areas of Bandpora district. Similar reports were received from several areas of Ganderbal and Budgam districts of central Kashmir.Reports of sever power crisis were received from south Kashmir’s Pulwama, Kulgam, Anantnag and Shopian districts. They said that power is playing hide and seek in almost all villages of south Kashmir.Meanwhile when contacted authorities in PDD, Bashir they admitted that power crisis has hitting Kashmir added that improvement depends on the power usage by consumers. “Until and unless people desist from power thefts, the electricity scenario of the valley will not get better. The department will soon start a massive drive against the power thefts,” one of the top officials of the PDP told KNS.Further explaining the power crises he said, “It is easy to blame the Department for everything but people should realize that they use more electricity than required and waste the power unnecessarily. “People should forget the habit of wasting the power. The people waste electricity in a number of forms whether it is putting on more bulbs then required or leaving the electric gadgets on. People should raise less hue and cries over unscheduled cuts and ponder more over the importance of power that gets wasted, there would be less darker days if they realize it,” the official said.
