Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said a wave of change is blowing in the country after the central government's move to demonetise Rs 500 and 1,000 currency notes.Khattar said that in the last three days, while a smile has been seen on the faces of the poor and honest, others are depressed. "This has become possible as a result of the bold steps taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said. The Chief Minister was responding to the queries of media persons here during his visit to four villages adopted by President Pranab Mukherjee at Gurugram. He inaugurated and launched various facilities in these villages.Replying to a question, Khattar said the decision to demonetise the currency notes of higher denomination has not only brought cheer on the faces of poor people but it would also keep a check on black marketing. "Modi's decision is praise worthy," he added.Khattar also hailed the Supreme Court's decision on the issue of Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal which has come in Haryana's favour. He said that all should respect this decision of the apex court. When asked if Haryana would also call a special session of Vidhan Sabha, the Chief Minister said there is no such need as the apex court's decision is in Haryana's favour. "We would wait for future action," Khattar said. He also said the water of SYL Canal would meet the demand mainly of southern Haryana and the people of that region would get canal water for drinking purpose as well as irrigation.
