While commenting on the Satluj Yamuna Link canal issue, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said, "Why should we run away?, This entire resignation drama has been created by the Congress party. Ask them that after one month, they would not remain MLAs anyways so why do this drama now?,". He emphasised that irrespective of any decision, they would not let anyone to take away even a single drop of water from Punjab.Mr Badal said while speaking to media persons during the inauguration of free medicines store at community health centre, here today. A total of 1943 such shops would be opened in the state, where 295 different medicines would be provided totally free of cost and 56 type of tests would be conducted free of cost.While speaking to media persons, Mr Badal said the SYL issue has been a sole creation of Indira Gandhi. He said at the time when the construction of SYL canal started, Capt Amarinder Singh had welcomed it. He said if Capt Amarinder Singh as well as all Congress MLAs are so empathetic and sincere towards Punjab, they should first resign from the Congress, which is responsible for this issue.
He said "if they resign from the Congress, then SAD will welcome it".While addressing the gathering during the matches of Dr BR Ambedkar 6th World Cup Kabaddi 2016, the Deputy CM announced that an international airport at Adampur would be constructed soon. He informed that process of land acquisition for Adampur airport is under process and within next few weeks, the foundation stone of this project would be laid and within next one and half years, the International Airport at Adampur would be operational. He said this airport would prove very beneficial for the people of Punjab, especially the Punjabis.The Deputy CM said the Punjab government started organising the World Cup Kabaddi around seven years ago. He said that they have made Kabaddi an international sport, in which countries such as Sierra Leone, Argentina, Kenya, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Tanzania and many others, who had never even heard of Kabaddi are now competing in this sport. Deputy CM said the Punjab government had sent coaches to different countries, where they trained Kabaddi teams, which are now competing in the present edition of World Cup Kabaddi.Mr Badal said the Punjab government has also set up Punjab Institute of Sports (PIS) at Mohali, which has all modern coaching facilities and is one of its kind Institute of the country where more than 5,000 sportspersons are being trained under the watchful eyes of expert coaches.
