Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today convened a meeting with several heads of district administrations and departments to review winter preparedness in the Kashmir Division.Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Director, Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, Chief Engineers PWD (R&B), Kashmir, PDD (EM&RE), Kashmir, PHE, Kashmir, and Mechanical Engineering Department, Director Health Services, Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, , SSP, Police Control Room, SSP, Traffic Police, City and Rural Kashmir and Deputy Director, School Education, besides representatives of Hindustan Petroleum (HP), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Bharat Petroleum (BP) attended the meeting.Deputy Commissioners of all the valley districts attended the meeting through video conferencing.Stressing that challenges are high in winters, the Div Com directed the officers to gear up with regard to logistics, stock and equipments. He directed the concerned officers to remain stationed and be available to  people so that their day to day issues can be addressed.On the occasion, Director FCS&CA informed the meeting that sufficient ration is stocked with the department and allotments shall be made within a day.

The meeting was informed that adequate stock of LPG for about 22 days, having 2.2 lakh LPG cylinders, besides bulk tankers with a total of 3,500 metric tons is available. Representatives of  Indian Oil Corporation informed the meeting that the corporation has kept 12000 cylinders and 18000 bulk cylinders available while as Bharat Petroleum officials  said they have a stock of 20,000 cylinders.The meeting was also informed that 3500 (instead of 2500) and 6000 (instead of 4500) cylinders have been dumped at Tangdar and Gurez respectively.Director Health Services informed the meeting that all requirements have been sorted out in all the district, sub-district and sub-centre level hospitals in the Division.Chief Engineer, PHE, Kashmir, said that adequate quantity of   chemicals with regard to water treatment plants shall be stocked by the end of this monthThe Div Com directed for providing two additional water tankers to Shopian and one additional tanker to Bandipora within a week.The Div directed the R&B Department to carry out repairs and mecadamization and asked the DCs to identify sites where repairs are needed.Seeking details about the buffer and workshops from the PDD, the Div Com was informed that the department has 250 revolving transformers and 5000 km conductor available at its divisional centres to meet eventualities. He directed for expediting work on repairing of damaged transformers. He also enquired about the status of Ujala Scheme and directed the PDD officials to take note of complaints of extra charges.
