Aseia for better sewerage system to save Dal Lake

Reiterating commitment of present dispensation of providing better facilities to the people, the Minister of State for Health & Medical Education and Urban Development, Ms Aseia Naqash, Thursday said that Rs 25 crore project is being implemented for augment the sewerage system in Srinagar to save Dal Lake.The Minister said this while chairing a meeting with officers of UEED Department here today.Ms Aseia directed the officers to gear up their men and machinery, besides redouble the pace of work to complete all projects well in time and directed for connecting all latrines around Dal peripherals with main STP.The Minister said that AMRUT scheme provides an opportunity to the State as adequate funding is being provided by the Central Government to the States for establishing infrastructure that could ensure adequate robust sewerage networks to improve sewerage system. She stressed on the engineers to work hard to take maximum benefit from the AMRUT.

The Minister directed the officers to finalize the DPR of the project followed by short term tendering for early start of the project. She asked the concerned to ensure the catering capacity of Intermediate Pumping Station to meet the demand besides make protection of Dal lake priority. She also emphasized on quality and technicality of the projects, besides strict adherence to the Srinagar Master Plan.Earlier, the Minister was informed under the project  new Intermediate Pump Stations are being constructed in Saida Kadal, MumKhan, Khogyarbal, Kathi Darwaza, Naidyar, AbiGurpora, Jogilanker, Rainawari, Aabinowpora, Buchwara, Gagribal, Dalgate, Drugjan and Doulatabad  so that sewerage of these areas is connected to main STP at Brari Nambal.The Minister was further informed that new Intermediate Pump Stations are being constructed in low laying areas effective.
