Bali Bhagat visits GMC, meets border firing injured

Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat today visited Government Medical College ( GMC) Hospital here to  enquire about the health of those persons who were seriously injured in yesterday’s cross border firing.The Minister visited emergency, disaster, Orthopedic, Surgery and other units of the hospital and assessed the medicare provided to the patients. He interacted with the patients and enquired about the treatment facilities being provided to them by the hospital.Eight civilians were killed and over 20 were injured, out of which 15 have been seriously injured including 14 month old minor girl Pari who has been shifted to GMC late last night.The Minister informed that one control room has been established in CMO office in GMC  besides 58 ambulances have also been pressed into service to cater to the medical requirement of people of affected border areas from Kathua to Poonch. Besides, 24X7 healthcare services are being ensured by the District and Sub-District hospitals as well as PHC’S.Earlier, the Minister chaired a meeting of GMC hospital administration to review the overall functioning of the hospital besides taking stock of emergency services.Principal GMC , Jammu Dr. Zahid Geelani, Medical Superintendent Dr. Ramesh Gupta, Dy. Medical Superintendent Dr. Davinder Singh and Senior Doctor’s were present in the meeting.
