Youth Services and Sports Department on Wednesday flagged off 50 players who are scheduled to take part in the Sqay Martial Arts and Rope Skipping Championships which are being organized under the aegis of School Games Federation Of India at Goa and Gujrat in the upcoming days. In a statement issued to KNS, Director of Youth and Services and Sports, Shiekh Fayaz said that the department is all set to host the National Championship in football in which teams from various states of the country are expected to participate.While providing the details about the forthcoming National championship in Football Director YSS said that Department is committed to boost sports talent of School Children of the state and organizing National level Championship in a game like Football will help us to achieve the desired goal of encouraging the mass participation of young school children in the games and sports.He further said that this land has produced the football stars like Abdul Majeed Kakroo, Mohammad Yousuf Dar, Mohammad Shafi Nari and today’s favourites like Mehraj ud Din Wadoo and Ashfaq Ahmed.
He hoped that conducting a National Level Championship in this game will help us to preserve this legacy and will certainly boost the morale of those young football players of the state who want to showcase their talent on a bigger platform. Fayaz said, “the championship is being organized under the aegis of School Games Federation Of India/and is for the U/19 Boys.” He added, “the sports extravaganza is scheduled to begin from 6th December 2016 and matches of the tournament will be played on different grounds of the Jammu city.” MOS Youth Services and Sports, Sunil Kumar Sharma was chief guest on this occasion.He said that the time has come when parents should encourage their wards for taking part in the game of their interest. He added that the clear guidelines have been given to the concerned officials that the sports talent of the children of this state should be tapped and encouraged in such a way that it achieves laurels for all of us. Fayaz said that the Department besides organizing sports championships within the state will keep sending talented sports players for participation in the sports events which take place round the globe in future as well.
