J&K Unit of All India Congress on Wednesday said that slapping draconian PSA on teenagers and other youngsters would ruin their career, besides harming the peace initiatives that are underway to restore calm in the Valley.Congress condemned slapping of uncountable PSAs on youngsters by the State Government and warned that peace cannot be achieved by indulging in such type of repressive measures.A statement issued by Congress said that the party is “committed to peace and it will continue to work for restoration of complete normalcy in the valley, but, at the same time, Congress party will raise its voice against anti-people and wrong policies of the PDP-BJP coalition government”.MLA Bandipora Usman Majeed and District President Imtiyaz Ahmad Parray while expressing deepest concern over slapping PSA on a teenager Tajamul Rasool Mir of SK Bala, Hajin blamed the Government for vitiating atmosphere by filling jails with teenagers and warned that peace cannot be achieved by slapping PSAs on youngsters.

“Government must adopt positive approach towards the youth and win back the confidence of the people. It must change its attitude and shun path of confrontation with the youngsters, as that will only help restore complete peace in the valley, otherwise it would be difficult to bring back normalcy,” they said.“Government must understand the ground situation in the valley and take effective measures to restore lost trust of the people, as it was ultimately the common people, who have immensely suffered due to the four-month long unrest,” the statement quoting the unionists said.The statement further said that the Congress politicians condemned the torching of two shops in Hajin late last night, while they strongly condemned torching of educational institutes at various place in the valley and termed it as an attack on the future of the children, which must be defeated sternly.They demanded severe punishment to those involved in torching School, Shops and vehicles.
