Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance and President of Zayed University, received and welcomed a delegation from the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) led by its President, Professor Peng Long last Thursday in Yas Viceroy Hotel in the capital.The meeting was also attended by Professor Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of Zayed University, Dr Rahman Haleem, Acting Director of Institute of Community Engagement (ICE), Dr Li Chen Sim, Co-Chair at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Du Wei, Associate Director of Confucius Institute, and Na Wang, Instructor at Confucius Institute in Zayed University.The visit came to renew the agreement for the Confucius Institute and expand future scope of collaboration with BFSU to potentially include undergraduate and graduate studies, students exchange programs, cultural events, and entrepreneurship projects.During the meeting, Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna said: “We are pleased with the visit of BFSU to the UAE and we look forward to reinforce the mutual friendship and cooperation between BFSU and Zayed University in order to build a solid bridge of communication and enhance cultural exchanges through the Confucius Institute, which contributes greatly to China-UAE cultural exchange.
” Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna highlighted the importance of organizing trips for UAE top achievers to China in order to get a firsthand experience of China’s cultural attractions and achievements and provide better understanding between the two countries. The contract renewal showcased the success of the Confucius Institute, which focuses on facilitating international promotion of Chinese language and dissemination of Chinese culture, as well as cultivating qualified Chinese-language teachers and excellent Chinese-language learners.The Confucius Institute at Zayed University conducts diverse programs of language training and cultural awareness programs to promote languages and reinforce cultural exchanges.Around 100 Zayed University male and female students enrollannually at the Confucius Institute in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses.Professor Zhang Xiaohui, Director of Office of Confucius Institutes, Professor KE Jing, Director of the International Office, Professor XUE Qingguo, Director of Shaikh Zayed Center for Arabic and Islamic Studies, and CHEN Zheng, Program Officer of the International Office, were part of the visiting delegation from BFSU.The visiting delegation expressed their profound gratitude for the warm welcome received in Abu Dhabi during their visit, and their delight at meeting Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi.
