To sensitize them about special summary revision (SSR) and disseminating awareness about agriculture, horticulture and other farming techniques, the Department of Agriculture in collaboration with District Administration Ramban today organized a lecture for the farmers here at Agriculture complex Maitra.Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Aijaz who is also District Election Officer (DEO) was the chief guest.Chief Agriculture Officer, H K Razdan , Chief Horticulture Officer, Lokesh Bali, BDO, Rajghar, Kuldeep Sharma were resource persons.The Deputy Commissioner delivered a comprehensive lecture on registration of voters. He appreciated the role of farming community in the overall development of nation as well as democracy. He appreciated the farmers for turning out in large to attend the SVEEP programme out of their hectic field works.
The Chief Agriculture Officer impressed upon the participants to convey the message of electoral registration to other areas and contribute their bit in strengthening democracy. He further said that such awareness programmes are being organised with an aim to sensitize the people mainly the eligible voters about the importance of their right to vote.The participants were informed that all individuals who are 18 years of age or above as on first January 2017 are eligible to get their names enrolled in the electoral roll. Forms of registration, correction and deletion were also distributed among them.Meanwhile, resource persons made the participants aware about new techniques of farming and various schemes launched by the state as well as centre government for promoting agriculture and allied activities.
