Expressing shock and condemning the killing of a vernacular daily’s journalist, who was shot dead in broad day-light by Akali Councillor at Dhuri, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Bhagwant Mann today appealed to the media fraternity to wage a united fight against the high-headedness of Akalis. “It is highly deplorable that a journalist is shot dead by Akali Councillor and media does not react to it”, Mann said while advocating a stern agitation against the Akali goons, as it was just like a ‘killing of the journalism’ by Akalis. “If Media does not get united to raise their voice against SAD, in the days to come Akalis may resort to more such dreaded attacks on media, as they are expected to do anything under frustration mode”, Mann, who is also Head of the Campaign Committee of AAP, said. “Recently, I had inadvertently indulged in heated argument with media and entire media of Punjab got united against me and even raised my effigies. I apologised for my inadvertent mistake”, Mann said adding that Media should show same kind of unity and enthusiasm to condemn and oppose the killing of their fellow journalist.

“I am with you to join your agitation and ready to visit any place to sit on dharna”, Mann pledged while reiterating his sympathy towards the bereaved family of journalist, who was gunned down by Akali leader. Earlier also SAD indulged in atrocities against journalism, when innocent protesting journalists were brutally cane-charged by the Police at Majitha, when they were heading towards the residence of Punjab Cabinet Minister Bikram Majithia, but unfortunately, media failed to rake up its strong voice to support their fraternity members at that time too. It is pertinent to mention here that a Journalist identified as Kewal Krishan, who worked with a Hindi daily, who was shot dead by Akali Councillor Paramjit Singh Pammi. Although the erring councillor was booked for murder, but he was still at large due to police inaction.
