Minister for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj, Law and Justice, Abdul Haq, today reviewed the physical and financial progress of various developmental projects in district Bandipora.Chairing a meeting of district officers, the Minister called for judicious use of funds and consolidation of works as per the requirement. He asked the executing agencies to prefer vertical construction over horizontal constructions so that construction land is used judiciously.Stating that the Government has strengthened monitoring system to bring more transparency in implementation of various flagship programs, he said that persons found wasting public exchequer will be held responsible and dealt under law. He also stressed on timely completion of projects.During the meeting, it was given out that the district has an approved capex budget of Rs 98.96 crore, and against the availability of Rs 23.79 cores, an amount of Rs 14.17 crore stands spent, so far.The Minister was informed that the major projects in the district like construction of Conference Hall, Dak Bungalow at Ayatmula, Dak Bungalow Sumbal, and Dak Bungalow Gurez have been completed and only finishing work is in progress. He set deadline of one month for completion of finishing works so that the same can be dedicated to the public soon.

While reviewing progress under PMGSY flagship programme, the Minister was informed that the district has 422 km of black topped roads and 269 km road length of metalled roads.He was further informed that under PMGSY,  work on 27 roads having 147 km road length at a cost of Rs 69.79 crore are under execution in the district connecting 24 habitations, while as 13 roads with a total road length of 52 kms have been completed till March 2016 costing Rs 25.25 crore.Under PHE sector, Abdul Haq was informed that there are 75 ongoing schemes in the district out of which 24 schemes have been completed, so far, at the cost of Rs 20 crore.  The meeting was informed that 13 Water Supply schemes covering 50 habitations are targeted for completion during this year.On the occasion, the DC Bandipora, Sajad Hussain, informed the meeting that a grid station at Patushay Bandipora is coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 17.11 crore and is expected to be commissioned by the end of December this year. He said 132 KV D/C Badampora-Bandipora transmission line is under execution with a project cost of Rs 19.85 crore.The Minister directed the concerned to work with added zeal and work on removing bottlenecks that are hindering the completion of transmission line so that grid station is made functional by the end of this year.
