Woman died, ten injured after vehicle plunges into gorge

A woman died while ten others including driver were injured when a vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Kamalkote area of Uri on Thursday.According to KNS correspondent, Nadeem Khawaja, a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JKo5C 0452 was on its way from Phalipora to Kamalkote when the driver lost control at a curve near Kamalkote.The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge, resulting in on spot death of a woman identified as Fatima Begum, wife of Zahoor Hussain of Phalipora and serious injuries to four passengers and minor injuries to six others.Witnesses said that the locals and police immediately rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.Officials said that the injured persons were shifted to nearby hospital in Uri for treatment wherefrom the doctors shifted the four injured persons identified as Danish Hussain, son of Arif Hussain, Syed Azad Hussain, son of Yasin Shah, Rafia Bano, 25, daughter of Younis Khan and Azra Hussain, 7 years old to Srinagar’s hospital for specialized treatment.
