Insha, a pellet victim still hopes for “Eyesight”

Insha Mushtaq, 15, who lost her both eyes to pellets fired by forces, Wednesday appealed state government to help her in regaining eyesight.She said that she wanted to regain eyesight to fulfill her dream of becoming doctor to help the poor and needy.Insha, who is back to home after three months told KNS that she desires to continue her study. “I want to study as I was aspiring to become a doctor but I lost my eyesight due to pellets. To fulfill my dream, the regaining of eyesight is most important,” she said.Appealing the government to provide them assistance so that she could regain her eyesight, Insha, a resident of Sedow area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district said, “I want to study, see my classmates, class room again. I appeal to the state government to help me in regaining my eyesight so that I can study again to achieve my goal of life.” She said that she don’t know what happened to her after forces fired pellets on her. “I only know that I went out to look outside of home through window and then forces fired pellets on me. I don’t know what happened thereafter,” class 9th student said.

Meanwhile, her father, Mushtaq Ahmad praised Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian for providing assistance to them. “As I belong to poor family, I was not capable to take my daughter outside the state for treatment. It was DC Shopian who provided me assistance to take my daughter outside the state.”Ahmad said that he appeal to the state administration to provide them help to treat Insha so that she could regain her eyesight, adding that the force personnel who targeted his daughter should be booked and dealt with strictly.Family said that Insha Mushtaq, class 9th student of New Greenland Educational Institute Shopian had received pellets in her both eyes and skull after forces fired pellets ‘straight into her face’ through window at her home during clashes on July 12, a few days after the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani that triggered unrest in the Valley.
