The State machinery is fully geared up to organize the State Level Punjab day Golden Jubilee function on November 1, 2016 at Amritsar to mark the completion of 50 years of Punjabi Suba Formation. Similarly a magnificent façade of world reckoning which includes the artistic beautification of 150 buildings surrounding Sri Harmandir Sahib would also be dedicated to the Public on October 24.A high level meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal to review the preparedness of the different departments to execute these gigantic tasks in which the people from across the globe shall participate to be part of this historic event related to the history of the State.At the onset Mr. Rahul Tiwari, Secretary, Information and Public Relations who is also the over-all coordinator of the event apprised the Chief Secretary about the concept details of State Level Punjab Day Golden Jubilee function. He said that every Punjabi residing in country or abroad, who had contributed in the struggle for the formation of Punjabi Suba, would be specially invited for the celebrations and be honoured. He further said that selfless warriors who have sacrificed their lives for the creation of Punjabi Suba would also be given rich tributes at this State Level function. 

The main focus of this function would be to showcase the importance of mother tongue, Punjabi Folklore, History of Punjabi Suba and the sacrifices made for its creation.Chief Secretary reviewed the progress made by committees for smooth and successful conduct of the State Level function. The committees reviewed included Protocol Committee, Transportation Committee, Security Committee, Stage Management Committee, Advertising & Media committee, invitations committee, venue preparation committee and Health Committee. Mr. Tiwari stated that different committees have already started work for organizing this state level function successfully. Chief Secretary took stock of all the arrangements made by different departments for the smooth conduct of this historic event. He directed all the members of the committees to visit venue of the function at Amritsar in next 2 days and ensure that the preparations are done at fast pace.Reviewing the arrangements made for the second mega event to be held on October 24 at Amritsar, the Chief Secretary was informed that in a first ever initiative of its kind, the Government of Punjab has given a complete face lift to the stretch from the historic Town hall to the Golden Temple, Amritsar. The façade of nearly 150 buildings on the street surrounding Sri Harmandir Sahib has been recreated in a uniform architectural theme which imparts it a grand look akin to the 400 year old city of Amritsar. Chief Secretary further directed the concerned departments to make timely preparation for successful conduct of both the events. 

Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Mr. Jagpal Singh Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Ms. Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Mr. Viswavjeet Khanna, Principal Secretary, Civil Aviation, Mr. Hardeep Singh Dhillon, Director General (Law & Order), Mr. KAP Sinha, Secretary, General Administration-cum-Chairman, Protocol Committee, Mr. A. Venu Prasad, Secretary, Power,  Mr. Husan Lal, Secretary Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Mr. Jaspal Singh, Secretary, PWD, Mr. Rahul Tiwari, Secretary Information and Public Relations, Mr. Vikas partap Singh, Secretary Medical Education Department, Mrs. Senu Duggal, Director, Information and Public Relations Department. Mr. varun roojam, Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar also attended the meeting from Amritsar through video conferencing.
