Electronic Billboards To Dot All Punjab Cities-Sukhbir

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister  Sukhbir Singh Badal today gave final touches to Pan Punjab outdoor advertising policy under which standardized electronic billboards, signage, bus queue shelters, public conveniences would replace the existing traditional signboards, increasing the income of Municipal Corporations and Committees manifold. In a high level meeting in which Local Government Minister  Chuni Lal Bhagat, Public Relations Minister  Bikram Singh Majithia and Tourism Minister  Sarwan Singh Phillaur participated, the Deputy Chief Minister saw the presentations given by Multi National outdoor Advertising Companies, who offered to participate in the ambitious program of Punjab Government that was cleared in last cabinet meeting. Badal said that with varied size billboards cluttering the skyline of Urban Areas, it was imperative that a standardized advertising policy be put in operation that would do away with unauthorized hoardings. He said that proposed electronic billboards  besides giving a planned look to the cities would also increase the income of local bodies manifold.  Bikram Singh Majithia, Public Relations Minister, said that Punjab has to adopt modern approach to advertising and there was need to launch a drive against unauthorized hoarding and check the defacement of public property.Besides Commissioners of all Corporation Towns, Principal Secretary Tourism Mrs. Geetika Kalha, Principal Secretary Local Government  Suresh Kumar, Director Local Government  Ashok Gupta, Director Public Relations  D.S. Mangat and other senior officers of various departments also participated in the meeting.
