‘Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav - 2016’ a celebrated festival organised by the Ministry of Culture, successfully progressed in to Day-3, highlighting India’s rich heritage. The glorious carnival that initially began on 15th October at the IGNCA campus, Janpath, New Delhi, will continue to mesmerize the audience through power- packed performances, art & culture, food and shopping joys till 24th October, 2016.Today, the South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur presented a kaleidoscope of the traditional arts, culture and handicrafts of South India, from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and the Union Territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry.Alongside, the day was graced by a magnificent performance by Dr. Padma Subramaniam, a renowned Indian classical Bharata Natyam dancer, choreographer, music composer and musician. The talented personality performed an elaborate dance sequence, converting the arena into an oasis of bliss especially for dance lovers. In addition to this, the audience also witnessed breath-taking tribal and classical art forms from different cities and towns across the country accompanied by a wide-ranging assortment of regional cuisines and delicacies prepared by traditional chefs.The Chief Guest of the evening was the Union Minister for Steel Shri Chowdhary Birendra Singh. The Programme was chaired by the Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge), Dr. Mahesh Sharma. The Chief Guest applauded the efforts of the Ministry of Culture for organising the splendid festival that appealingly highlighted the undiscovered talent and art forms from different cities and towns from across the country, well connecting country’s youth to its rich heritage.
