Refusing to appear in the examination, scores of students of Polytechnic engineering on Monday morning staged massive protests against the Board of Technical Education (BOTE) for holding examinations of 6th semester students.Reports said that 6th semester students of Poly-technique colleges of Valley were supposed to sit in examinations at Government Women’s Polytechnic college Bemina in Srinagar.“The Technical Board issued date sheet, online, for the said exams two weeks ago. The date sheets were not published in daily newspaper and students were asked to get details through internet which interestingly had been banned on July 08, 2016 evening. Only Broadband was working while majority of the people don’t avail that service,” the students said adding that examination was imposed upon them, given the fact they had not prepared for it.The students held protests outside the examination centre in Women Polytechnic College Bemina. The exam was scheduled to start around 9 AM, but students who had arrived here from different districts stood away from the examination centre.“How can we sit in examinations when students like us were killed and maimed by men in uniform,” students shouted. The authorities failed to persuade students thus cancelling the examination scheduled for Monday. (CNS)
