The Student Counseling Center in cooperation with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and the American Hospital organized a measles immunization campaign at Zayed University in Dubai campus.The UAE Ministry of Health launched the national immunization campaign against measles that aims to provide free measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination to all citizens and residents.Vaccination is the best, safest, and most effective tool to protect against measles, which is a highly contagious disease caused by a virus that may infects adults and children. It is considered as one of the leading causes of death among young children worldwide. The campaign, which started at Zayed University in Dubai campus, will run for a series of two weeks or longer if needed and will follow in Abu Dhabi campus. Kuldhir Bhati, Director of Student Counseling Center, said: “We have installed three nursing stations where the vaccines will be administrated over the course of the month of October.
All the classes have been sequentially scheduled, so as to cover the whole student body. Also, all the faculty and staff, within the age group 19-34 are being offered the vaccine, as per the guidelines.”“Zayed University is very honored to be chosen by DHA to be the first university where this campaign is being launched. Zayed University have health clinics on both campuses with a doctor and nurses on duty.The Student Counseling Center provides psychological first aid and support to Zayed University students in order to ensure their psychological and health wellbeing. It provides a wide range of services including individual and group counseling, consultation, outreach programs, psycho-educational workshops, crisis intervention, and referrals to off-campus resources.
