Minister of State for Health & Medical Education Asiea Naqash today conducted surprise inspection of SMGS and Gandhi Nagar hospitals.During the visit, the Minister reviewed functioning of the hospital including patient care, medicines availability, sanitation, waste management etc.The Minister asked the administration of the hospitals to develop a proper mechanism for smooth dispensation of medical services to the people who entrust their care to the government hospitals. She asked the administrations to ensure that the patients are given proper instructions and directions to navigate the labyrinth of the hospital.‘Many people who come to the government hospitals are poor or uneducated. A little instruction to guide them in the right direction will not only reduce hassles for them but also go a long way in improving the hospital’s goodwill among people’, Asiea Naqash added.
With regard to the requisite sanitation in a medical facility, she said that hospital administration should pay special attention to ensure that all round cleanliness is maintained in the premises. She directed the concerned to expedite the process for outsourcing the maintenance of these facilities.The Minister also asked the hospitals to strictly follow segregation of waste material at all levels inside hospitals.The Minister interacted with the patients and enquired about the facilities being made available to them. She expressed displeasure over patients being asked to purchases medicines form outside. She directed the hospital administration to provide prescribed medicines to the patients from the hospital stores.Directions were also passed to the hospital authorities to immediately auction off metal junk accumulated within the hospital premises like irreparable, broken pieces of equipments etc.Medical Superintendents, senior doctors were also were present during the visit.
