DDC Baramulla reviews environmental impact of stone crushers

Acting upon the directions of High Court, District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr.Nasir Ahmad Naqash today convened an officers meeting to discuss various matters regarding stone crushers in Baramulla District. The meeting was attended by District Superintendent of Police Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM, Sopore, SDM, Tangmarg and Tehsildars besides the officers of concerned Departments.The DDC stressed upon the officers to identify crushers violating government norms and those dangerous to environment so that necessary steps are taken. Strict directions were given to the concerned officers to inspect and report on the location, working and conditions of stone crushers in the district. During the meeting it was given out that the stone crushers located near habitations and water bodies will be relocated as per the guide lines of the High Court.The DDC highlighted the importance of eco friendly steps for the settlement and functioning of stone crushers. He stressed upon the crusher operators that proper disposal of waste and effluents be managed to overcome pollution. He urged upon them to use latest technological equipments for reducing noise and air pollution.
