An impressive programme was organized here to celebrate the Ladli Beti diwas under Beti Bachao Beti Padao scheme.Vice-chairman of the State Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of the Other Backward Classes, Rashpaul Verma and MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Raj participated in the awareness cum sensitisation programme held in the district after every 7th of month.The Nodal Officer BBBP campaign and District Social Welfare officer, Mushtaq Choudhary, apprised the participants fallout of female foeticide and declining sex ratio through power presentation. They were informed about steps being taken by the District Administration like Mass communication campaign, celebration of birth of girl child, strict implementation of PC/PNDT Act and monthly monitoring of sex ratio through Guddi-Gudda Board. The campaign involves active role of ICDS, Health, Education, Police and Rural Development Department. It was informed that the District Administration is making special efforts for re-enrolment of school dropout girls by holding counselling session with parents and the students.
The Vice Chairman called for taking the campaign to the grassroots level for effective implementation. He listed the govt schemes like Ladli Beti, Marriage Assistance and BBBP campaign for the women empowerment and asked people to take benefit of the same. The MLA highlighted the achievements of women in various fields and said they are in no way behind men. He emphasised upon giving due attention towards protection and education of girl child and referred to large number of lady officers working in the sub-division as role model for society. The SDM Ghagwal N. D Sharma laid stress on strict implementation of PCPNDT act and called for intervention at multiple levels for the success of the campaign. Religious leaders Verinder ji and Shardanand ji also spoke on the occasion.Later, MLA and SDM distributed prizes among meritorious girl students – Luxmi Devi, Sadhna Kumari, Heena Sharma, Radhika Sharma and Urlika Verma of Ghagwal Zone. A play and song was presented by Sargam group Samba and Balbir Singh, Cultural Asst respectively on the theme.
The Programme was also attended by Tehsildar Ghagwal, Kanchan Bala, BDO Ghagwal , Bhawani Attri,BDO Rajpura R.D Sharma , CDPO Ghagwal Saleem Beig ,ZEO Ghagwal, sectoral officers, prominent citizens , ex-Sarpanches, Anganwadi workers and Asha Workers of the Ghagwal Sub-division.
