All India Devotional Song Competition entered in its fifth day last evening .DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Surinder Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion.In the preliminary round, Mr. Sukhjinder Jeet from Amritsar was adjudged 1st while Ms. Karuna from Jammu clinched the 2nd position and the 3rd position went to Mamta from Sunder Nagar Punjab and were given with the cash prizes of Rs.10,000 , Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 3,000 respectively.DIG while speaking on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the organizers of the Navratra Festival and All India Devotional Song Committee and participants. The Devotional Song Competition was adjudged by the panels of experts in music including Dr. Usha Bhagati Ex.HOD Music, Dr. C.L Verma Ex. Dean & Chairperson Himachal Pardesh University Shimla, Dr. Surinder Sharma HOD , Govt. College of Shimla.Rakesh Wazir, the Chairman of the Competition Committee informed that the quarter final of the competition will be held on 8th of October.Earlier, DIG Udhampur- Reasi Range , Mr. Surinder Gupta also inaugurated Shobha yatra at Katra.The impressive Shoba Yatra- cum- cultural procession was taken out from the Asia Crossing which after passing through the main bazaars and other locations of the Katra town culminated at Chintamani Mandir.Among others, Sumir Kotwal Addl. SP Katra, Tilak Raj Deputy Commandant CRPF, Umesh Shan Assistant Director Tourism, Mohit Raina Tehsildar Katra, Ashok Sharma Dy SP Katra, , Chairman Devotional Song Committee Rakesh Wazir, besides members of Navratra Festival Committee were also present on the occasion.
