Sham Lal visits border areas, asks people to send children to schools

Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary, today visited various border villages in Suchetgarh including Abdal, Kapoorpur and Gharnai to take stock of the situation in the villages lying close to International Border.MLA, Sat Sharma and officers of district administration accompanied the Minister.The Minister informed the people that appropriate arrangements of food, electricity, water supply, medical facility, toilets and transportation have been put in place by the government for their comfortable stay and survival. Besides, a comprehensive contingency plan has been prepared to ensure their safety, in case of any eventuality, he added.The Minister asked the people to send their children to schools as the government has made special arrangements for conducting classes for border migrants in the schools, even where the shelter camps have been setup.

The Minister asked them to cooperate with security forces and inform them about any suspicious activity in their area.  He also directed the concerned security agencies to ensure proper security arrangements at various important locations and maintain close coordination with the field functionaries in the border villages.The Minister asked the people to take optimum benefit of state and centrally sponsored schemes including IHHL, old age pension scheme, Marriage Assistance Scheme, Ladli Beti Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and many others, initiated by the government for their welfare.The Minister further said that the government is making its best efforts to ensure development of border villages and therefore, various development works have been initiated under BADP.

The Minister further informed the villagers that government has set up temporary shelters at Bana Singh Stadium, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary  School R.S Pura, Govt. Higher Secondary  School Miran Sahib, ITI RS Pura, Govt. Boys Higher Secondary  School Kotli Shahdoula, Social Welfare Complex R.S Pura, Boys Middle School Purana Pind, Govt High School Chouhalla, Govt. Higher Secondary  School Dablehar, Govt. Girls High School Dablehar, Dak Bungalow Miran Sahib Marallian, Girls High School Simbal Camp, Radha Swami Satsang Ghar R.S Pura, BDO office Darsoupur, Miran Sahib, Sericulture Department Darsoupur and Govt High School Kirpind for accommodating them in case of any contingency.
