Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Batt today conducted an extensive tour of areas along LOC in Manjakote subdivision to take stock of situation in the backdrop of escalating tension on borders. Pertinently, the district administration Rajouri has identified nearly seventy two safe locations for shifting people from border areas in case of any eventuality.During the tour the DC directed the concerned departments to put in place all basic facilities at the camps. He asked the camp officers to remain present and ensure availability of ration, power supply, drinking water, security and sanitation.The Deputy Commissioner stressed on close coordination among all concerned departments for providing basis facilities in these camps to avoid inconvenience to the people shifted there. The PHE department was directed to make necessary arrangement to ensure uninterrupted water supply to these camps, while PDD was asked to make suitable alternate arrangements for power supply especially during night to avoid any inconvenience to the people.
He directed the concerned officers of food and civil supplies department to ensure adequate supply of ration and other essentials at the camps.Meanwhile, locals of the area also presented various demands to the Deputy Commissioner and he assured to take necessary steps for meeting the demands. He also appealed the people to maintain peace and amity and cooperate with the security agencies and civil administration which are taking adequate steps for ensuring their safety.Applauding the efforts of deputy Commissioner, the locals expressed full faith in the government and assured their full support and cooperation. It was informed to the people that control rooms have been set up by civil administration at district headquarter with 24X7 helpline numbers.Senior superintendent of police Mohammed Fareed Mir, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mumtaz Choudhary Executive Engineers of PHE,PWD tehsildar Manjakote beside all other sectoral officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.
