The Punjab Government has approved two major four lane road projects on Kotkapura-Sri Muktsar Sahib and Batala-Mehta-Beas routes with a total cost of Rs. 140 crore.  Disclosing this here today  Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, PWD Minister said that the construction on 30 kilometer long stretch on Kotkapura-Sri Muktsar Sahib and 36 kilometer on Batal-Mehta-Beas would start in April 2013 while the project would be completed by December 2014. He said that on Kotkapura-Sri Muktsar Sahib four lane project would also witness two high level bridges.   Dhillon said that the construction work of Kotkapura-Sri Muktsar Sahib project has been allotted to SPML-SIL (JV) Gurgaon. He said that with the completion of this project in one and half year the traffic scene on NH-95 (Ludhiana-Ferozepur Road) to NH-15 would become smoother. Similarly, the Tantia Constructions Limited, Kolkata has been awarded the work of Batala-Mehta-Beas project, which would eliminate traffic congestions on the route besides benefiting the traffic on NH-1 (Jalandhar-Amritsar) and NH-15 (Amritsar-Pathankot Road). Dhillon said that the four lane construction of 56 kilometer long Ropar-Chamkaur Sabhib-Neelon-Doraha road has been executed with a total cost of Rs. 240 crore along Sirhind Canal. He said that this four lane project would become operational by August 2014. He also informed that a Railway Over Bridge would also be constructed on this road and after completion of this project the lakhs of daily commuters from Himachal to Ludhiana, Moga, Ferozepur via Ropar could enjoy the easy and smooth travelling.  Giving details about ongoing construction of 4 lane of 30 kilometer stretch of Morinda-Kurali-Siswan-Baddi road,  Dhillon said that this road would also become operational by June 2014, easing and reducing the travel time to various cities of Himachal Pradesh. He said that it would also reduce the traffic burden on Kurali-Kharar-Chandigarh road by saving the precious time of commuters.
