The Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today said that possibilities would be explored to bring more areas in periphery of Jammu city under the ambit of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC).Kavinder Gupta said this after inaugurating the work for blacktopping of roads at Raina Colony, Babliana, Jammu.The Speaker said that process is underway to include the left out and adjoining areas of Jammu city under the municipal limits. He said that this will facilitate periodic development in infrastructure, health care and increase accessibility of various amenities to the people of these areas.Responding to the issues raised by locals during the event, the speaker informed that a systematic plan has been devised to promote development in semi urban and rural areas. He said that 14000 electric poles have been sanctioned for the area and work for which will be started soon. He said replacement of old distribution infrastructure would greatly help to regulate power supply to the people.Kavinder also informed that as per the demand of the people, public transport facility will soon be started on Satwari-Maralian route. For this, the matter has already been taken up with the concerned department, he said.

Later, the Speaker attended a District Youth Convention at Government Polytechnic College, Jammu.Being organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra in collaboration with Helpline Humanity and Polytechnic College, the objective of the programme was to raise awareness among the youth about the significance of holistic health and yoga in today’s life besides making them aware about different schemes launched for welfare of youth by Government of India. Speaker appreciated the organizers for holding such an informative programme which will greatly help the participants to lead a healthy and peaceful life. He emphasized upon the need of adopting healthy habits in our day routine.“With the efforts of Prime Minister for making yoga an integral part of life more and more people are now practicing this ancient science to improve their lives”, he added.Chairman, Mission for Health, Happiness and Harmony, Dr T.R. Raina gave a detailed presentation on the holistic health and science of Yoga. He elaborated on the benefits of adopting healthy lifestyle and yoga for leading a happy and harmonious life.The Deputy Director, Nehru Yoga Kendra, S.S. Kashyap gave detailed information about various schemes launched by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India for a focused all-round development of youth. He urged the students to come forward and make use of these facilities.
