Governor Acharya Devvrat urges people to draw inspiration from life of Guru Gobind Singh ji

Governor Acharya Devvrat said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji was one of the great solitaire and sacrificing legend, who founded the religion for the protection of truth and justice. He said that today the nation was celebrating the 350th anniversary of great personality, warrior, spiritual guru and scholar, who not only founded the Khalsa Panth but made the proud history of the country glorious. He was speaking on the occasion of celebration of 350th Birth Anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh ji organised by Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Shimla in collaboration with the State Government at historical Ridge, Shimla, today.Acharya Devvrat said that we should draw inspiration from the life of Guru Gobind Singh ji and his life-philosophy could guide us to make a better society. Today, humanity was facing the challenges of selfishness, doubt, conflict, violence, terror, injustice and oppression and in such a situation his teachings were more relevant to build a strong nation, he added. "His oration is immortal fund in Sikh history which still inspires all of us", said the Governor.He said that Guru Gobind Singh Ji, formed the Khalsa, by choosing the five Pyaras (beloved ones) from different castes, different locations and different vocations. This act reinforces the Guru’s much needed vision of creating a spirit of unity amongst all peoples beyond perceived boundaries of caste, vocation and ethnicity, and was an important value for India in the present day and beyond.

The Governor said that the Khalsa followed a strict moral code and spiritual discipline under guidance and inspiration of Guru Gobind Singh. It was through his courage that the people rose against the oppression of the Mughal ruler in India at the time, he added. Apart from being a spiritual and a military leader Guru Gobind Singh was also a gifted writer who penned a large body of literary work, he added.He said that Guru ji had sacrificed everything for the sake of religion, culture and the pride of the nation and added that such a valor and sacrifice was hardly get to see in the history. He said, on one hand, the storm of religious fanaticism of the Mughal King Aurangzeb was swept the existence; the Guru Gobind Singh gave the society a new philosophy and holds a sword to achieve spiritual freedom. He said that Guru Gobind Singh ji was probably the first favour equal rights to girl child and was for an equal society without any discrimination. He said that Guru Gobind Singh ji not only rejected discrimination in all races and established equality, but also created a sense of self-respect and dignity among masses.  He said that the poor and the downtrodden were always in the back of his mind.Earlier, the Governor was honoured by presenting “Sarpoa” by the members of Guru Singh Sabha Shimla.Guru Singh Sabha Shimla President Shri Jasvinder Singh, Vice President Shri Janak Singh, General Secretary Shri Sewa Singh and Organizing Secretary Shri Kawaljeet Singh were present on the occasion among others.
