French delegation led by Mr. Alexandre, Ziegler, Ambassador of France and Mr. Jean- Yves LE DRIAN. Defence Minister of French along with other member delegation today called on Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Shri VP Singh Badnore, at Punjab Raj Bhavan.Discussing various issues at length the Governor said that there was a major scope of cooperation in the areas of sustainable development particularly in transport, waste management and urban development. He said that the most important areas of our interest is segregation of waste. We need latest technology in this field.The Governor said that Chandigarh is number one city in India for very many reasons, especially in architecture, cleanliness , greenery and also leading in tapping roof top solar energy in the country.
He said that he don’t want to be restricted only to smart city tag but he wants to see Chandigarh as the smartest city.Shri Badnore further said that another area in which we were interested was rapid transport system. He said Chandigarh is not very big city, and people are not interested in Metro, but in other transport systems. He asked them to share whatever latest technology they have in these areas.Mr. Alexandre, Ziegler, Ambassador of France, assured the Governor that they would extend all possible cooperation and extend helping hand in sharing latest technical know-how in the areas of your interest.Punjab Governor also presented them model of Golden temple.Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Mr. M.P. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor and Mr. Parimal Rai, Adviser.
