DDC stresses on optimally harnessing horticulture potential in Kishtwar

Kishtwar posses enormous potential in  Horticultural sector which needs to be optimally harnessed for fetching good economic returns for the farmers, this was stressed by District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, Mr G N Balwan District Development Commissioner while interacting with the  farmers during a  Kissan  mela held   at ITI ground here today.DDC  stressed on high density  plantation of horticulture crop, and  directed the horticulture department to equip the farmers with latest advancements in the field besides making adequate  arrangements for the procurement , marketing and processing  of agri/horticulture produce viz jam, pickle, marmalade etc.On the occasion experts from RHRSS Bhaderwah, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Doda, Deptt of Horticulture,  Agriculture and other allied deptts shared vital information for  improving horticulture production  .About 900 samples of fruits like apple, pomegranate, walnut, chilgoza etc remained attraction of the event.Later DDC  also distributed prizes along with certificates to the farmers for the best fruits put on display during the  exhibition . A total of 35 prizes amounting to Rs 12000 were distributed among the participants.
