The Punjab government today recruited 121 Group-D employees from amongst the Visually Impaired Handicapped (VH) persons during a ‘special recruitment camp’ organized by the Social Security and Women & Child Development department held here at Kisan Bhawan.Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Punjab government said that as many as 88 employees alone were recruited on various Group-D posts in School Education Department, whereas 33 posts were filled from amongst other 22 departments, which participated in the direct recruitment drive to fill up the backlog of visually disabled persons. All the selected candidates were given appointment letters on the spot by the respective Heads of the Departments (HoDs).According to the spokesperson, nearly 700 VH applicants came for walk-in recruitment. The entire recruitment process was held under the supervision of Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development for the employment of VH candidates on various posts in different departments viz. peon, chowkidar, sweeper, daftri, canner, beldar, gate keeper and multipurpose workers.Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included; Principal Secretary Social Security and Women & Child Development Mr. Anurag Aggarwal and its Director Mr. Gurloveleen Singh besides several Heads of the Departments.
