To commemorate the International Day for the preservation of Ozone layer, an inter-college Poster making and presentation competition under the theme “Global Warming-Effects & Causes” was organized by the Science club of GCW Udhampur in collaboration with J&K State Science, Technology & Innovation Council, Dept. of Science & Technology, District .32 students from GDC Udhampur, GCW Udhampur, GDC Ramnagar and Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur participated in the event. Addressing the participants, Prof. K.S. Koushal, Principal of the College and Chief guest on the occasion highlighted the various activities due to which the average surface temperature on the earth is rising.Earlier, Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Convener of the Science Club apprised the participants about the theme and its importance.
He highlighted the factors responsible for Global warming.Dr. Bhavnaish Chand (HOD Physics), Prof. Sumita Rao (Dept. of Zoology) and Prof. Ravinder Kour (Dept. of Physics) were in the panel of experts to adjudge the students. First and second prize in the competition was bagged by Basaat choudhary and Anjna Kumari respectively of GCW Udhampur, while third prize was clinched by Rakshanda Bhat of GDC Udhampur. Consolation prizes were shared by Parul Oberoi and Sonika Sharma of GCW Udhampur and Sakshi Thapa of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur.Among others, Dr. Nalini Pathania (HOD English), Prof. Kuldeep Raj, Dr. Ashok Kumar and Prof. Brinder Kumar were also present on the occasion.
