The Joint resistance leadership on Thursday extended shutdown call till September 22, with no relaxation in evenings. The new protest calendar issued to KNS here on Thursday evening was issued jointly by resistance leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.On Saturday (September 17), the leaders have called for ‘freedom march’ to Kupwara, Kulgam and Budgam. “From 9 am, one and all (people) from North Kashmir districts of Baramulla and Bandipora will march towards Kupwara; people from South Kashmir districts of Pulwama, Shopian, Islamabad will march towards Kulgam; people from Central Kashmir districts of Srinagar and Ganderbal will March towards Budgam; Post-Zuhr prayer, hold Freedom Congregation at a place identified and agreed upon locally and mutually; Resistance/Masjid Committees of Kupwara, Kulgam and Budgam should ensure the arrangements,” the leaders said in the joint statement.

On Sunday (September 18), they have called for ‘Bandipora, Shopian, Ganderbal ‘Freedom March’. “From 9 am, march one & all from North Kashmir Districts of Baramulla and Kupwara towards Bandipora; from South Kashmir districts of Pulwama, Kulgam and Islamabad towards Shopian and from Central Kashmir Districts of Srinagar, Budgam towards Ganderbal; Post-Zuhr prayer, hold Freedom Congregation at a place identified and agreed upon locally and mutually,” they said.“Resistance/Masjid Committees of Bandipora, Shopian and Ganderbal should ensure the arrangements.” On Monday (September 19), they have called “Baramulla, Pulwama, Srinagar Freedom March.” “From 9 am, march one and all from North Kashmir Districts Bandipora, Kupwara towards Baramulla; South Kashmir Districts Shopian, Kulgam, Islamabad towards Pulwama; Central Kashmir Districts Ganderbal, Budgam towards Srinagar; Post-Zuhr prayer, hold Freedom Congregation at a place identified and agreed upon locally and mutually; Resistance/Masjid Committees of Baramulla, Pulwama and Srinagar should ensure the arrangements.”

The leaders have asked people to observe Tuesday (September 20) as “Women’s Day.” “Assemble and Occupy local chowks and centers from Zuhr to Asr in the vicinity of your mohallas, villages and localities; protest with Flags, Placards and Banners with Freedom messages and slogans,” the protest calendar states.The leaders have urged people to observe (September 21, Wednesday) as ‘Chenab Valley Solidarity Day’.“In solidarity with the people of Chenab Valley viz. Banihal, Ramban, Doda, Baderwah, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch and Gool-Gulab Garh, hold Solidarity Conventions all across Kashmir; Pay respect & homage to the people of these regions for their support and determination for People’s uprising for freedom from India’s forcible control and their resistance against communal forces,” the calendar states.

The resistance camp has called for Islamabad, Srinagar Uptown Freedom March on September 22 (Thursday). “From 9:00 am, march one and all from South Kashmir Districts Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama towards Islamabad; Central Kashmir Districts Ganderbal, Budgam towards Uptown Srinagar (Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar, Rambagh, Baghat to Sanat Nagar).“Neighbouring villages and localities (should) organize One-Day Azadi Convention from 11 am to 4 pm in respective areas; Deliberate and discuss ways and means to strengthen the ongoing People’s uprising for freedom from Indian forcible control; Resistance/Masjid Committees ensure the arrangements,” they said.“Lockdown all the routes entering your mohallas, villages and localities by every means during night to protect people in general and youth in particular from the raids and arrests by Indian forces and J&K police. Play Islamic and Azadi taranas from Magrib to Isha on every day. Paste this protest programme poster on the entrance of every masjid and in market places, Mohalla’s and local Chowks. Private Vehicles strictly prohibited except medical emergencies,” the leaders have said. (KNS)
